History
In January of 2000, Christ United Methodist Church of the Deaf was
selected by the Baltimore-Washington Conference as a Shalom Zone site, and in 2000 the Deaf Shalom Zone Inc., a separate 501c3,
was established. The Deaf Shalom Zone provides a multiplicity of services to meet the needs of the greater Baltimore culturally
Deaf (those who use sign language), Deaf/Blind, and hard-of-hearing community, sometimes assisting individuals across the
state of Maryland and occasionally in other states.
The
Deaf Shalom Zone Inc. focuses on three major areas of activity:
· Case Management services
· Development of new service programs
· Advocacy, empowerment, and leadership development in the Deaf community.
